About Me

My photo
Stephen and I joined the Navigators staff in June 2010 to do college ministry at Oregon State University. We moved to Corvallis and into the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity to be House Parents in September 2010. In June 2011 we welcomed our beautiful daughter Sadie Maren who will now be a frat baby!

7/6/12

Sadie's First Birthday Party was a definite success!  We got to see many of our friends and family (although we missed all of the Bruckers!), Sadie tried cake for the first time and we discovered she likes cake but not frosting (takes after her Daddy and Grandpa Pete in that respect), we opened some presents, got to show family and friends our new house and Sadie's first year of life was appropriately celebrated.  It was a great time and we are so thankful for all who came, especially those who drove down from Portland and Seattle! I had planned the Nautical theme for the party back when Sadie was probably 6 months old and I had lots of fun with all of the decorations and such.  It was fun to see all of my ideas come to fruition but even better it was great to see people having fun!  Here are quite a few pictures for those who couldn't join us ....

Stephen blew the balloons up the day before and Sadie loved playing with them!

The beginning of the food buffet

The food and dessert table

the drink station - water and raspberry lemonade

each of Sadie's "month birthday" pics - when they were all in a row it was crazy to see the difference from 1 month to 1 year!
months 1 through 4 (she was so chubby at 4 months!)

Months 4 through 8 - I think month 7 is my favorite picture of them all

Months 9 through 12 -  know month 10 is a bad quality picture but it was hard to get a good one that day because she was sick that day and even threw up : (  Love pics 11 and 12 though

decorations right inside our front door

the party favors

Ahoy!  if the y looks a little crumpled it's because Stephen was trying to help me clean up right before the party and accidentally threw it away and I had to go dig it out!

Stephen was very proud of getting beer that went with the party theme

Sadie and Josiah - aww so sweet

Sadie with Jeannie, Jacob and Stacy - all students who just graduated this June

Uncles Kev and Bri - Kev was on video duty all day - he did great!

Sadie and Eden who is 1 month older

family pic right before cake time - if Sadie looks somber it's because cake time was right about at nap time!

Sadie decided to share some with her friend Evie

Sadie was SUPER tired after the party and fell asleep on Daddy at around 5:30pm
This year changed us forever and we couldn't be happier about it.  Sadie has brought so much joy to our lives we can't even express it and we are so thankful God has given us the privilege of raising her.  We pray so much that He will be glorified in her little life!
