Big Girl!

On Monday Sadie and I went to Albany and shopped at Costco, Target and Old Navy. The carts at Costco are pretty huge so I figured I would just put Sadie's car seat in the basket part. This worked for a while until she started getting fussy. I decided to try her in the front part and wouldn't you know she did really well. The front of the Costco carts can actually fit two children so Sadie was slumping a little bit down to the other side but she did great and she loved it! The next day all three of us went to Trader Joes together and we decided to show Daddy what a big girl she is. So cute!

Here are a few other pics from the past week:

One of the guys from the fraternity took us out for dinner on Thursday night to say Merry Christmas (how nice is that?) and Sadie sat in a high chair there for the first time. She did pretty well and was very fascinated with the ceiling fans as you can see in the pic above. : )

Sadie loves her Daddy!

Sadie is obsessed with this giraffe lovey/small blanket. It's really soft and she loves rubbing it all over her face while she falls asleep. I'm beginning to have a love/hate relationship with it. I love that it helps her fall asleep so well but I hate that it's on her face. It makes me so nervous that she won't be able to breathe. I end up going in there a million times to make sure she's still alive. I think we may have to try and wean her off of that thing soon . . .

Yummy food!

Sadie had her first taste of solid food yesterday. We decided on the "super food" avocado because it apparently has tons of good fats and nutrients. And I personally love it and I hope she does too! It was quite fun to watch her. As you can see from the video it is a little hard to tell if she actually liked it or not but she didn't really seem to dislike it. She was mostly excited about the spoon!

We tried avocado again today though and Sadie seemed to like it! She ate a whole tablespoon (which doesn't seem like a lot but for the beginning it is). So we will feed her avocado again for two more days just to make sure she doesn't have any adverse reactions to it and then we will try something else. I am making sweet potatoes with another mom on Friday so that will probably be it. So fun to see our girl growing up!

5 months old!

Sadie turned 5 months on Black Friday November 25, 2011. We were in Spokane for Thanksgiving so we took Sadie's pics while we were there. According to my home scale Sadie weighs about 16 pounds and she is at least 26 inches long. Her 3-6 month clothes are getting small and she's starting to fit into some 6-12 month clothes. We are switching to size 3 diapers as soon as I finish the package we have.

This month Sadie decided to dislike laying on her back. Every time I would lay her on her back she would lift up her head like she was doing a crunch. She has to have a six pack under the fat on her tummy! Finally toward the very end of the month she learned how to roll from her back to her stomach and will now flip to her tummy whenever she is on her back including in bed and during diaper changes. On her tummy she loves to "swim" and do "push-ups".

Also this month, Sadie discovered her tongue and loves to blow raspberries and bubbles. She also loves baths and being naked. For sleeping she started being swaddled with her arms out and loves to fall asleep by rubbing a lovey over her face. She is VERY close to sitting up unsupported and can sit up by herself on soft surfaces. Our girl is getting so big and grown up!

Almost sitting up!

Sadie's been practicing her sitting skills and is seeming really close to sitting up all by herself. If she is on a soft surface such as her changing table, the bed or our laps she can sit without support. She practices with the boppy pillow around her for support when she's on the floor. So fun to watch all of her changes - she's getting so big!

Happy Halloween!

We had a little bit of a lame Halloween this year. Sadie had her 4 month Dr. appointment that morning at 8am and by the afternoon she was super crabby. So she didn't even end up wearing her costume on actual Halloween at all! Luckily we went to a Halloween party on Saturday so she did get to wear her cute Lady Bug costume made by Grandma Mimi at least once.

The pics below were actually taken on Halloween. I just had to document the crabby face since that was how she was most of the day! The pumpkin Sadie is sitting with we got for free at the Pumpkin Patch a few weeks before Halloween. We were going to carve out a larger pumpkin and put Sadie in it but unfortunately someone stole it on "Thirsty Thursday" before Halloween. I was very sad, but I'm glad Sadie wasn't old enough to be sad too!

4 months old!

Sadie turned 4 months old two Tuesdays ago on October 25, 2011. On Halloween we went to her 4 month Dr. appointment. She weighed 15 pounds even (75th percentile), is 25 3/4 inches long (92nd percentile) and her head circumference is 16 inches (25th percentile). So she is still pretty tall, quite chunky and has a small head! Sadie is exclusively in 3-6 months or 6 month clothing and it all fits perfectly right now. she can fit into some 6 -12 month sleepers and one piece outfits. Size 2 diapers fit perfectly right now.

Big milestones this month were more smiles although Sadie is still by no means a liberal smiler! We also have finally heard giggles and even a few laughs. That is so much fun to hear and we will make the silliest faces, sing the silliest songs etc. to try and illicit Sadie's adorable giggle. She especially loves when Daddy holds her above his head and rubs her tummy on the top of his head. It's pretty funny.

Sadie really started "talking" this month also. She loves cooing and squealing quite loudly. She is also wanting to put absolutely everything in her mouth and will get very upset if she can't. Sadie is also still fascinated by her toes and she looks so cute when she grabs them at diaper changes. When she is on her tummy Sadie does the swimming motion. She still loves to stand with support and I think she's getting pretty close to sitting up all by herself.

Pumpkin Patch Trip!

In the middle of October we went to the Pumpkin patch with John and Steff Winder and their boys Trevor and Carson. It was a little bit chilly that day but otherwise it was a great time. We went on a hay ride, picked apples, got a free pumpkin, held little chocolate lab puppies they were selling and even got free apple cobbler with ice cream yum! We had so much fun and Sadie seemed to like it pretty well too. Except she fell asleep by the time we got to the actual pumpkin patch. Oh well I'm sure next year will be a different story!

Sadie was too young for the free balloons but Carson sure loved his!
such a cute fam!

What We've been up to lately . . .

We have't been up to too many exciting things lately, you know besides growing and all! However here are a few pics of Sadie's days the past two weeks . . .

Happy girl!

Trying to eat everything lately

Go Beavers! By the way they actually won the game the day she wore this - maybe Sadie is their lucky charm : )

Noni and Pops Visit!

This past weekend Sadie's Noni and Pops visited Corvallis. We had a great time with them going out to dinner, watching the UW game together and they even went to church with us on Sunday. On Saturday we drove to Newport and went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. It was actually a really cool aquarium and we hope to go again sometime. Sadie slept through about half of our time there, however, she really liked looking at the fish and sharks in the tunnel. So cute.

The cute watermelon hat that Steff Winder's Mom made for Sadie finally fits - love it!

Tummy time with Mommy after a long day of meeting with girls (we had two one on ones that day and Sadie went poop during both of them. That made for some definite entertainment for the college girls!)

Thanks Auntie Anne for my cute pjs! They even have ruffles on the bum!

While we were in Newport, Sally spotted this adorable tutu in a boutique and just had to get it for Sadie - she loves her Noni!

She was very fascinated with the tutu and all of the fun tulle to play with.

Thanks Noni and Pops for coming to visit us we had so much fun with you!

Cute pics as of late . . .

Oh and an update on Sadie's three month stats: weight: approximately 14 pounds (although she was weighed fully clothed and with her diaper on, so it's probably a few ounces under 14lbs), length: 24 1/2 inches and head circumference: 15 1/2 inches. So she's definitely getting bigger and bigger. It's crazy!

Stephen went to the Greek Fire Academy and the guys from the fraternity insisted he bring back this hat for Sadie.

All dressed up for her first Monday night dinner!

Mom and Baby girl - (I know Mom her hair looks red in this picture but it's not!)

dressed up last Saturday for the game even though we didn't go ("Beav in training" the shirt says)

This is Sadie's binky holder giraffe - we have named him Marcel and Sadie loves him!
